Silver Romilly Open Face Verge Pocket Watch France 1780
A silver open face verge pocket watch, made “Romilly a Paris” in the late 18th century. The pocket watch is complete with antique key.
Dial: The white enamel dial has very nice hand painted bedroom scenery of a young lady. The inner dial had black Arabic numerals with outer minute divisions and golden hands.
Movements: The verge movement is in working condition; however, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique pocket watch. The movement is signed: “Romilly Paris”.
Case: The watch lies in a silver open face case with a smooth finish. The inner side of the case is numbered: 909.

Diameter: 56 mm – Weight: 103 gr
History: Jean Romilly of Paris was originally a native of Geneva born in 1714. He married in 1752 and moved to Paris. He lived in Paris on Place Dauphine 1772-81 and on Rue Poupée 1787-89. He’s listed as being a very able watch maker. Listed examples include 8-day, year and equation watches; Watchmaker for the French Royal family.
