About this item
EARLY CHILDS TRANSFERWARE MUG
YOUNG LOVERS ~ MAYPOLE
Staffordshire England ~ c. 1840
This is whimsical little child's transferware mug, circa 1840. This diminutive piece stands 2 1/2 " tall x 2 1/2 " wide with an applied loop handle. The mug is light weight and beautifully potted with a pearlware glaze.
It is transfer printed in black with a scene on one side of young lovers and the other side had children around the Maypole.
The condition of this exceptional mug is excellent, never used. Children's early mugs of this quality is quite scarce and highly sought after. The images are delightful, a throwback to a much simpler time. The cup will make a great addition to your collection of children's dishes.
