About this item
Brown Transferware Staffordshire Platter
Staffordshire England c.1840
This is a spectacular brown Staffordshire transferware platter, c. 1840. It measures 13 1/2 " long and 10 1/8 " across. It was impeccably potted and finely transfer printed in a rich and intense brown, with a pearlware glaze.
The central well depicts a pastoral scene against a background of a lake and mountain villas. Feather and flowers around the entire rim. An absolutely stunning composition.
Never Used. The platter is in great condition, with no chips, hairline, edge wear, cracks or repairs. The platter displays perfectly, probably in a cabinet for 175 years.
