About this item
RARE AESTHETIC POLYCHROME BROWN TRANSFERWARE MEAT PLATTER
DEVONSHIRE PATTERN
Ridgways Potteries
Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire England
c. 1884
This large Victorian brown aesthetic 16 1/2 " long x 12 1/4 " wide platter is transfer printed in very dark brown. Rare to find in a welll and tree drainage meat platter, first one we have seen in this great pattern.
The pattern features a fancy pin wheel flower border around a completely covered well with oversized daisy type flowers and three magnificent cartouches. One has a vase full of oversized exotic flowers next to a lake with a songbird in flight. Another has sprigs of blooming daisies and the final cartouche has a very unique tufted long billed aquatic bird. This is a delicious platter.
The platter displays beautifully or is ready for use. Great condition. One darkened craze line to the rear which is not a hairline.
