A very attractive and well presented aquatint with original hand-colouring, depicting a distant view of Great Marlow. Lettered beneath the image with the title "J Farington R.A. delt." and "J.C. Stadler fact." "Pub: June 1. 1793 by J. & J. Boydell. / Chespside & Shakespeare Gallery Pall Mall."

One of the series of views from Farington's celebrated "An History of the River Thames". The image here shows Great Marlow with the building known as the Court Garden, a private house at the time of the print but now a civic building. The Thames runs through toward the centre of the picture. There has been a bridge on the Thames here since the 14th Century and on the right the 1789 bridge can be seen (which was replaced by a new suspension bridge in 1829).

Good broad margins. Presented in an good antique Hogarth style frame.
