Dwight C. Sturges was born in Boston, Massachusetts. A fine American etcher he studied at the Cowles Art School in Boston. Most of Sturges early work was devoted to painting however, in around 1910, he devoted himself almost entirely to etching and he gained a strong reputation for his portraits, figure studies and landscapes
