Published by VICTOR LEVASSEUR which was arguably the last decorative atlas of the 19th century
It is NOT trimmed there is 1 1/2 inch- 4cm. minimum border all round the engraving
Steel Engravings were hand - engraved onto a steel plate in reverse by a specialist engraver, then inked by hand then thick paper was laid onto the plate and pressed in a hand wound press individually
A very labour intensive process and probably the finest lines /details possible
