    Mezzotint portrait after Reynolds of the sitter, half-length, within an oval frame. Lettered beneath the image with title "Lady Beaumont" (centre) and production detail: "Painted by Sir Joshua Reynolds" (lower left); "Engraved by J.R.Smith" (lower right) with publication details beneath the title "London, Published 27 Octo 1780 J.R.Smith No.10 Batemans Buildings Soho Square"

    Lady Margaret Beaumont (née Margaret Willes) (1756-1829) was the wife of the great art patron, connoisseur, amateur artist and founding benefactor of the National Gallery, Sir George Howland Beaumont, Bart. (1753–1827). She and her husband married on 6 May 1778 in Grosvenor Square, London, when Sir George was 25 and she was 22. Lady Beaumont was active in literary circles and she was a helper and supporter of William Wordsworth.
