    About this item

This is a fabulous medieval silver signet ring, dating to the 15th - 16th century. The bezel is deeply engraved with an initial of W.S. in the Lombardic script. Above and below are floral sprays and the circumference is dotted. This is a large ring, likely worn over a glove (as was the fashion). Such a ring would have been a costly and important jewel owned by a wealthy merchant as a (means of authenticating transactions and letters). Today this ring has survived down to us in perfect condition, having been cleaned and worn by its previous custodian. A Marvellous ring in all respects!
