    About this item

This is a nice Renaissance silver-gilt finger ring, dating to the 16th century. The ring is set with a magical coral gem thought to detect poisons and prevent riders from falling from horses. The gem is made from glass in imitation of coral. The body of the ring is deeply sculpted and fluted with the bezel raised up showing off the gem. A nice and original Tudor period finger ring, in excavated but wearable condition!
