Antique Spongeware Rabbitware Ironstone Plate ~ Adams Rose 1900

This is a colorful hand painted transferware plate, c. 1900. Very little is known about the actual origin of these wonderfully whimsical rabbit wares.
Rabbitware is a combination of transfer printing and stick sponge or spatterware. The three rabbits and frog in the center of this plate are transfer printed in brown and painted with enamels in yellow, brown and green. The border is painted in the Adams Rose pattern. The plate measures 9 1/4 inches in diameter and transfer printed in brown and painted with enamels in yellow, brown and green. This folk art is a highly collected art form.
Never Used. The piece is in outstanding condition. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs.
