About this item
A Fascinating Carved Wood Zoomorphic Abstract Sculpture
English School
Burr Walnut
Circa 1980
Measures:-
32 cm high x 45 cm long x 6.5 cm wide
A wonderfully tactile and attention-holding object by an unknown, probably British sculptor. The form has great presence and has been variously interpreted as an elephant drinking, a feeding bear, an anteater or aardvark, a playful rolling dog or as a more architectural form such as a bridge or viaduct, a number or simply as an alphabetical letter 'E', 'M' or 'W'.
Whatever the viewer's interpretation, the object is a fascinating one which can be oriented in any number of ways to suit the viewer's mood or the sculpture's location.
