This is an antique study of a curlew. An Oriental, bronze and mahogany decorative small bird, dating to the late 19th century, circa 1900.
The bird sculpted in a sunbathing pose with wings raised
Displays a desirable aged patina
Curlew in bronze shows fine plumage detail
Mahogany shows medium caramel hues and attractive grain interest
With wings raised, the long, slender beak arched gently across its back
From the ruffled neck to the wing tips, the feather detail catches the eye
Offers a pleasing weight of 1.8kg (3.96lb)
Carved details to the plinth with a scrolled river effect adding a sense of motion
The side decorated with a Greek key pattern and raised on four shaped feet
