    This is a antique gilt bronze figural sculpture of Indian Scout holding a bow & arrow, by the renowned German sculptor Josef Drischler (1838 - 1917) and bearng his signature, circa 1900 in date, please see the oval photograph of the sculptor.

    The gilt bronze Indian Scout is holding a bow & arrow raised on a naturalistic rectangular gilt bronze base, signed J. Drischler, and mounted on a marble socle. It features the figure in action dressed in tradional native costume with his hand raised above his eyes blocking out the sun.

    This high quality hot cast solid bronze was produced using the traditional 'lost wax' process.

    The attention to detail is absolutely fantastic and the sculpture is extremely life-like.

    Joseph Drischler

    presumably studied at the Academy in Berlin around 1880. He was initially active at the workshop of the famous Berlin sculptor Rudolf Siemering (1835-1905). He then spent some time in America, before returning to Berlin.

    Drischlers oeuvre includes a number of monuments as well as finely modelled figurines that were cast, among others, by the Berlin art foundry Gladenbeck.
