M. A. SOMMER late 19th century / early 20th century lifesize polychrome hand painted + annotated plaster and papier mâché anatomical model of a horse's head.

An incredibly rare and hard to come by piece, especially in this condition.

Provenance;

Finch's 2020 (as featured in 'Catalogue 34 - Myth & Memory', previously Berlin collection until 2016..likely ex museum/university..

Can confirm made by M. A. SOMMER as illustrated in catalogue page from Sommer's Anniversary Catalogue of 1936. Model # Zo. 28. - Thanks to Hans Sommer for researching and providing this information, greatly appreciated.

As per description from the catalogue, originally modelled from a real horse's head at the Superior Veterinary School in Dresden.

Comes with original Finch's gold cloth bound catalogue.

In very good overall condition with minor imperfections and blemishes / patina etc. commensurate with age. Please refer to listing images as they form a large part of the description. More images to follow.
