    About this item

This is a wonderful engraved silver fob seal, dating to the late 17th - 18th century. The seal has an ornate openwork handle of a chessman type, decorated with an oval face. This is hand engraved with a crowned merchants mark around an anchor. It bears initials of A.I. Such a seal would have been used by a merchant (identified with the '4') this could also be a ship's captain. A nice item in good antique condition.
