About this item
This is a gold seal – 15K or higher. The seal would have been made for an important member of the British Raj
The square base is set with a hardstone decorated with a very intricate armorial crest featuring a duke’s crown, two elephants flanking each side and a tiger wearing a crown which has two wings and a star and the initials VS.
The handle is in the form of a seated monkey with ruby eyes.
The monkey is holding a smaller hammer and a seal.
The seal measures 32mm x 18mm x 16mm and is in 85% mint condition – some old repairs and dents but a very interesting piece
