    About this item

This is an interesting medieval bronze seal, dating to the 14th -15th century. The seal is of a 'chessman' type, engraved with a central armorial device within a cusped circle. The legend has not been cut nor the arms, it appears that during this phase of production whilst secured in a vice the quatrefoil handle (similar to this example 10873) snapped off! As such the seal has no wear and a fine dark patina from excavation.
