About this item
This is a medieval bronze seal, dating to the 15th century. It is nicely cut with a device of a wheat sheaf. The legend is inscribed in a Blackletter script, reading as "s yvon le meunier?" This would translate as "the seal of Yvon the Miller" The seal is missing the top of the handle, but is otherwise a nice example cut in Blackletter script (much rarer) and especially for seal with an indicated profession. This example was from an important Strasbourg collection.
