    About this item

This is a nice Scottish silver armorial fob seal, dating to the 17th century. The device consists of a shield, 'a fess chequy between three stars'. The arms lack any visible tinctures,  making it harder to be more precise to the original owner, apart from the initials I.C.  The chequy fess is often associated with Scottish armigers named 'Stewart' or those of that ilk. This seal is a nice antique piece with partial gold gilding remaining.
