    About this item

This is a nice silver armorial fob seal, dating to the 17th century. It is decorated with an ornate openwork handle of a chessman type design. The device consists of a shield, 'Azure on a chevron between three lions passant guardant Or three crosses formy Sable'. These arms are associated with the Fowler families, notably one from Wiltshire (Philip Fowler) who emigrated to Massachusetts (USA) in 1633. Listed on the ROLL OF EARLY AMERICAN ARMS. This seal comes with some research paperwork attributing the arms. A nice historical seal in excellent condition.
