About this item
This is a Victorian fob made circa 1850
The seal has a round base set with a green hardstone and features an intaglio of a flower.
This is seal was designed to be used with hot wax for sealing letters.
I have made an impression of this seal using hot wax to show that the seal works as intended and also to give a clearer image of the intaglio.
The wax impression comes in a small plastic case and is included with the seal.
This is set into a gilt shank.
The handle of the seal is made from a solid piece of agate carved into a hoof.
The seal has a suspension loop
The seal measures 35mm long x 8mm wide
The seal is in 90% mint condition – a small repair to the suspension loop and shank. Plus some small chips to the very tip of the hoof.
