This is a top quality example of a Swiss pocket watch made in the Empire style in the early 1800s. The watch has a top quality silver case and movement and is an understated but superb example
Movement – the gilt bridge movement has a cylinder escapement with parachute compensation curb and a free standing mainspring barrel. The movement is jeweled throughout and is in 95% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a top quality silver open face case, which has a hinged inner, back and bezel. The case is signed on the inner cover “Huit Trous et Cylindre en rubis, compensateur, Gaberel & Dufour a Geneve”. The case has silver touche marks and a much thicker gauge than usually found on these slender profile watches. The case is in 95% mint condition.
Dial – the silver dial is decorated with a polished silver chapter ring and engine turning in the centre. The dial has blue steel Breguet style hands and the dial is in 90% mint condition – fine marks and scratches
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with a silver Breguet key for winding and an additional one for setting the hands
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 53mm wide x 13mm deep
