About this item
This three piece majolica strawberry set by George Jones features an oval tray with open rings at the ends which hold a small pot of sugar and one of cream. The centre is decorated with a trompe l'oeil effect of a folded napkin scattered with strawberry leaves. The strawberry theme is continued with a frieze of leaves around each pot. On the base is an applied pad mark for George Jones, Stoke-on-Trent and the painted number 2243 which is the pattern number. It measures 370 mm, or 14.5 inches in length and 230 mm, or 9 inches in width. The condition is very good but it does have a small chip to the base of the cream pot and a small repair to the underside of the lip of the sugar pot. There is also some faint crazing to the sugar pot. C1875.
