French Art Deco Rene Lalique Opal Turkey Glass Dish, 1925 -signed

An very fine signed (R Lalique) Rene Lalique strong opal Dindon (Turkey) pintray -depicting a finely detailed Turkey, The piece has been photographed against white and black as opal always looks it's best against black - it dates from 1925 (Marcilhac ref: 287). Such pin trays were designed for ladies dressing tables - the perfect gift for a gentleman who might hope to follow it into her boudoir -they probably never know that it was more likely to be used as an secret ashtray as in high society, in those days, proper Ladies did not smoke in public!

Rene Lalique was possibly the most famous of all glass makers -the most collectable pieces by him are those produced during his lifetime (ie pre 1945), most of these are signed, like this piece, R Lalique - just visible on the base see picture 12
