About this item
AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE WASTE BOWL
GARFIELD PATTERN
Wallis Gimson Potteries
Staffordshire England
c. 1885
This large rarely seen Victorian aesthetic 5 3/4 " wide x 3 1/2 " tall waste bowl is transfer printed in dark chocolate brown. It was used in victorian times for the disposal of the dregs of tea.
The clear and crisp GARFIELD pattern features a fantastic wide, busy band of Japanesque cartouches and alternating geometric flourishes with butterflies hidding among the flowers. Cascading cabbage roses.
The piece is in good condition, appears to have never been used. There are no chips and no repairs.
