Heritage, craftsmanship & authentic character

Painted metalware of this period blends utility with decorative storytelling. The lively scene encircling the body - rider, hounds, and landscape - brings motion and narrative to a functional object, while the verdant interior and upright handle lend it a pleasing, architectural silhouette.

Visual details

Hand‑painted figures and foliage show varied brushwork and layered colour, with fine outlining to animate the rider and hounds. The green interior provides a vibrant contrast to the exterior scene. The vertical handle rises cleanly from the sides, and gentle, age‑commensurate wear along edges and high points enhances the piece’s depth and character.

Styling suggestions

On a sideboard: Stand it with two favourite bottles for a ready‑to‑serve vignette. On a bar cart: Pair with cut crystal and brass accents to echo its warm tones. As a decorative accent: Display with dried grasses or utensils in a country kitchen. Gift‑ready: A thoughtful host’s present - add two bottles to complete the story.

Sustainability

Choosing an antique functional object is both an aesthetic and environmental decision -  preserving traditional craftsmanship, reduces waste, reuses items that have already stood the test of time and brings layered character that new pieces rarely achieve.
