About this item
LARGE POLYCHROME PUNCH BOWL OR FRUIT BOWL
Staffordshire, England c. 1840
This is one of the best centerpiece fruit or punch bowls we have come across, circa 1860. The pedestal bowl was designed to be the centerpiece in a dinner service for holding either evening punch or a large collection of exotic fruit. The piece stands 6 1/2 inches tall x 13 1/3 inches wide and coated in a pearlware glaze.
It is transfer printed in brown with very exciting hand colored painting under the glaze. Large cascading clusters of grapes grace the interior, exterior and base. Quite the statement for your table.
Condition is great with a small amount of wear to the inside from light use or washing.
