Made, Sheffield, England
Circa 1985

An elegant silver plate on copper gallery tray, a reproduction of an 18th Century George III style design. Gadrooned borders to the pierced lattice gallery, handles at either end. Raised on bun feet. Marked to the underside with the House of Fraser leaping stag triangle logo (introduced 1985) and "Allander / House of Fraser / Sheffield Reproduction / Silver Plated on Copper / Made in Sheffield / England". The in-house "Allander" brand was a marque launched by House of Fraser in 1975 for their premium homewares. It was named after Sir Hugh Fraser, 1st Baron Fraser of Allander (1903–1966), who was responsible for the expansion of his family business from a single shop in Glasgow into an internationally recognised chain of prestigious department stores. The tray was almost certainly made in Sheffield for the retailer by Viners Ltd.
