Enamel advertising sign for Tweeney E S Meyer Mid 20th century Originally made for a bakery or a café Good condition overall, some enamel loss Scalloped form with hand painted lettering and figureDescription
This is a mid-century British enamel advertising sign made for Tweeney E S Meyer, produced for outdoor display with a shaped edge and fixing holes for mounting. It reflects the type of sign made by small businesses in the post-war period to promote shops and services using durable enamel on metal.
The sign is made from heavy gauge metal with a bright yellow enamel ground, bordered in white and painted with black lettering in two styles. There is a silhouetted lady carrying a tray cakes on one-side, which suggests this was made for a bakery or café.
