Coffin Side Tables

Pair of Brass Coffin Stand Occasional Side Tables

Brought back to life, you could say, this unusual pair of brass coffin stands has been cleverly repurposed as a matching pair of occasional side tables, each finished with a toughened glass top.

Originally used within the funeral trade, the stands are made from brass, with one engraved “R. McDougall & Co Ltd”, presumably the funeral directors to whom they once belonged. The two stands are individually stamped “2” and “3” at the top, adding another intriguing detail to their history.

Now given an entirely new purpose, they make wonderfully distinctive side or lamp tables. Unusual, certainly, but still elegant in our humble opinion — and guaranteed to be a real talking point in any interior.

A fascinating pair of pieces that combine history, character and a touch of the unexpected.

Condition Report

Overall, this matched pair of converted tables is in good condition, with no significant losses or breaks. Both tables sit well and flat, while the glass tops are solid and sit securely in place.

The brass metalwork shows signs of age and use, including areas of discolouration, light scuffs and natural patination, all consistent with the age and character of the pieces.

We have included a comprehensive selection of photographs to provide both an overall perspective and detailed views of the condition of each table.
