A rare late 18th century (circa 1780) mahogany side table of semi-elliptical form with superb, rich patina (colour) of wonderful proportions, possibly Irish - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
This table consists of a semi-elliptical top with a design of segmented curl mahogany veneers with boxwood stringing and mahogany cross banding with semi-elliptical inlaid decoration to the centre back.
This leads down to a wonderfully decorated frieze consisting of figured mahogany with inlaid boxwood harebell and paterae designs, boxwood stringing and mahogany banding to the top and bottom with fan decoration to each of the four outer corners.
The table is supported by four elegant tapered legs with inlaid boxwood fan and harebell decoration with inlaid shell design to the top of the two back legs leading down to inlaid boxwood diamond decoration and terminating with spade feet.
This table is in very good condition for age with evidence of some old repairs, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
