Regency Mahogany Side table. Circa 1820
Item details
This is a beautifully designed and very well executed Regency period mahogany side table.
It has a finely figured veneered top, with cross grained flat edges, and stepped rounded corners.
The outset turned and tapered legs feature blind panels to the frieze, and ringed and reeded columns terminating in interesting and unusual brass cup and ball feet.
The two frieze drawers have cockbeaded edges and cast brass period ring handles, replacements. The oak drawer linings are all original and constructed with fine hand cut dovetail joints.
Quality materials have been used throughout - Georgian straight grain oak is the secondary wood, laid over with choice figured mahogany veneers. Even the backboard is oak veneered in mahogany.
