A 1920s antique hand painted wooden workshop oil it sign

Fresh to market, we recently found six of these wonderful antique signs in a long established builder’s workshop in South Derbyshire.

The multi generational company ceased trading in the late 80’s, leaving the workshop and all contents locked up since.

The signs are some of the items we were lucky enough to salvage, finding them as they were left, covered in dust and cobwebs.

Sat on a windowsill were these six signs, all hand painted on timber. With simple bold white painted font reading ‘OIL IT’ on black background. The rectangular timber panels having chamfered corners.

All approximately the same in size, and design, with just slight variations in the lettering given they were painted by hand approximately 100 years ago.

Wonderful in their simplicity and monochrome colour way. The wording OIL IT make these perfect to display in many interior settings, whether it be a workshop or even a kitchen. These are ideal for decorative interior designs use, which given their small size allows flexibility for where they can be displayed.

We are selling individually, and currently have 2 available.

The last 2 listing photographs are of each separate sign still for sale. The first being No.1 and the last No2. When placing your order please specify which specific sign you would like.
