There is an inscription on the base "PRESENTED, to Mr James Swan, Banbeith, By the Guardians of, Mr Lundie of Auchtermairny, For his good advice and attention, to their offices, 1806". The seven part stand away hinge is tight and the lid fits snuggly. An excellent piece for any collector.
