About this item
An extremely rare Scottish silver and agate oval snuff box by Richard Haxton of Edinburgh c.1806. The large agate top is in excellent condition as is the rest of the box. There are hallmarks in the base but the date letter is missing. There is an inscription on the base "PRESENTED, to Mr James Swan, Banbeith, By the Guardians of, Mr Lundie of Auchtermairny, For his good advice and attention, to their offices, 1806". The seven part stand away hinge is tight and the lid fits snuggly. An excellent piece for any collector.
