A very unusual Scottish silver and agate based Cowrie shell. The silver base has intricate engraving around the edge. The interior silver is gilded. The 5 part hinge is tight and the lid snaps closed well. The agate and the shell are in excellent condition. This is a very good example of a cowrie shell snuff box.
