A sweet Hanau silver trinket or jewellery box formed as a harpsichord with all over embossed decoration of Watteau-esque scenes of young lovers in gardens and the countryside on the hinged cover and underside, and scrolls and arabesques to the sides. Set on tapering 'turned' legs. Gilt interior. Import marks to the underside and cover for Chester 1906, importer Samuel Boyce Landeck and pseudo Hanau hallmarks also to the underside.
It measures 7.5cm (3") by 3.5cm (1 3/8") wide and 3.5cm (1 3/8") high and weighs 63g / 2ozt.
In very good condition with no damage or repair. Slight bounce in the hinge and minor handling wear.
