About this item
A very rare shell shaped unmarked silver snuffbox. Probably made between 1710 and 1725. The shape and style are of this period. For a similar box see "British Silver Boxes, The Lion Collection" by John Culme. Its on page 122 box number 120, sold at auction for £1100 plus commission. My box though unmarked is remarkably similar and in very good used condition. There are signs of part gilding on the outside and almost full gilding on the inside. It has engraved cherubs on the inside lid. A beautiful and very collectible early English snuff box.
