About this item
A stunning Gothic style table snuff box by Charles Rawlings and William Summers made in London in 1845. The cast top has flowers from the four nations, thistles, roses, shamrocks and leeks. Inside there are full hallmarks and original gilding and an inscription "William Stokes to John B. Coman, Dublin 1st May 1863". Sir William Stokes (1838- 1900) was a famous surgeon in Dublin who wrote many books and articles on medecin. The snuff box has a tight hinge and a well fitting lid. Overall the condition is excellent. A great addition to a collection.
