About this item
A rare Victorian silver, horn and citrine vinaigrette. Made in Edinburgh c.1875 by John Sanderson and company, it is only marked with the makers mark "S&S". The item is in excellent condition with only light wear and surface scratches comensurate with its age. It is fully gilded inside and the citrine has an open back to show the facets of the beautiful stone. The lid fits well with an over engineered ball joint hinge. The silver top is cast with thistles and foliage with a thumb piece. The horn has a tight curl and a suspension loop which would have probably been for attaching to a chatelaine. A great piece for any collection.
