About this item
A rare silver snuff box of unusual shape by Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham 1943. The box is designed in an oval with 8 curved sides. The whole box is covered with engraved swirls and the cartouch has a period inscription. It reads "Presented by the officers and brothers of the, Loyal Mercury Lodge to, Host Richard Smethells, for his kind and valuable services while acting as treasurer, July 20th 1846. The interior has original gilding and is hallmarked top and bottom. This is a lovely scarce snuff box and is in stunning condition. A great piece for any collection.
