    About this item

An attractive and unusual early 20th century ladies sterling silver card case with suspension chain and finger loop. Push button, sprung hinge opening to reveal a gilt interior with sprung card clip with trefoil decoration. Also fitted with a large mirror on the other side for the lady to check her face throughout her evening. Engraved to the front with an attractive monogram M E & L (reportedly for a Maria Eleanor Lee, died 1935), plain to the reverse. Hallmarked for Chester 1915, makers Cohen & Charles.

    It measures 11.5cm (3 3/4") by 7cm (2 3/4") and weighs 119g / 3.8ozt.

In excellent condition: one pin prick to the reverse being the only thing to note. The opening mechanism, hinge and clasp are all good as is the sprung card clip. Only minor handling wear in general and the marks are excellent.
