About this item
A lovely late 19th century visiting card case with diamond panels of mother of pearl with engraved decoration on each and with fine abalone stringing between them. Mother of pearl strips down the edges. Hinged opening and lined with tan velvet. A small silver cartouche along the top edge and silver push button. c.1880
It measures 10.5cm (4 1/8") high by 8cm (3 1/8") wide and 1cm (3/8") deep.
Condition is very good. There is a small loss of the bone slip inside the cover just by the hinge and the silver clasp inside the cover has been lost. No losses to the mother of pearl or abalone. The hinge is good and the case stays closed. The silver is unmarked as is usual.
