About this item
A very striking early 20th century large circular silver cake stand with intricate openwork design of mythical creatures including griffins, dolphin type fish and putti, all set within a fine scrolling vine background. Very fine detail to the all areas, with the feathers on the griffins and scales on the fish. A central circular cartouche is unengraved with bright cut engraving around the edges. Set on a small pedestal foot. Makers' mark for the Roger Williams Silver Co. c.1900-1913, "Sterling" and model number 637S.
It measures 28cm (11") wide and 2cm (3/4") high. It weighs 542g / 17.4ozt.
In excellent condition with no damage or repair and with some expected light surface wear to the polished central disc.
