About this item
This is a pre civil war Waltham pocket watch has a model 1857 movement with pinned plates, as opposed to screws. Very few of these watches were made.
Movement – this is a 11 jewel gilt full plate Model 1857 movement with pinned plates and a gold balance. The movement is signed “P S Bartlett, Waltham, Mass” 12299 and is in 90% mint condition – light cloudy spots only
Case – the movement comes in an American silver case which has a silver eagle mark and has a hinged inner, back and bezel. The case has coin edged sides and a vacant crest. The case is in 80% mint condition – many small marks.
Dial – the white enamel dial has a pair of gilt hands and a blue steel sub seconds hand. The dial us signed “Appleton Tracy Co” and is in 95% mint condition – a tiny mark between the 10 and 11
The watch has a bevelled mineral glass
The watch measures 53mm wide x 18mm deep
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with a key.
