About this item
A very nice George III silver teapot of oval shape with tapering circular spout, an urn shaped knop with beaded rim and carved wooden handle. Bright cut decoration of cornflower sprig style and wavy bands around the base and rims. Ornate floral garlands on each side with roses and leaves and oval cartouches. Further floral detail to the tip of the spout, handle terminals and knop. One cartouche has the owner's initials but the other is vacant. Hallmarked to the base for London 1783, maker John Kidder and further partial marks inside the cover.
It measures 26cm (10 1/4") long, 9cm (3 1/2") wide and 12.7cm (5") high. It weighs 467g / 15.0ozt.
In excellent condition with no damage, dents or repairs. The marks and engraving are lovely and clear. The handle is nice and secure as is the knop.
