About this item
A fine and unusual late 18th century domed silver decanter label with cut away sections to form an urn standing on top of a crescent curved label. Pierced decoration forms a chain link effect garland running along the bottom of the label part and draped from either side of the urn. Beautifully fine engraved detail to the whole piece, patterns to the garlands, the detail of the urn and flower motifs in each corner to the sides of the "Rum" label itself.
Hallmarks to the reverse, just the lion passant and maker initials for Hester Bateman of the period c.1778-1790.
It measures 4.8cm (1 7/8") wide by 4.5cm (1 3/4") high and 1cm (3/8") deep and measures 12g / 0.4ozt.
In excellent condition with no damage or repair and minimal handling wear.
