    About this item

An exceptionally George III silver "WHITE" wine label. Made in London around 1765 by Margaret Binley. Wine labels by female silversmiths are rare and Margaret Binley specialised in making such labels. She first registered a makers mark on the 15th of May 1765 and continued until the middle of the next decade. She was registered as a "small worker" as was her husband Richard, they lived in Gutter Lane in London. This label is fret cut and only has the makers mark and the purity mark. It is in excellent condition and the chain may have been replaced.
