About this item
Very attractive piece of Victorian Wedgwood majolica. The stand modelled as a boy satyr perched on a moulded base decorated with ivy leaves and pink flowers, holding onto the body of the piece, with a marbelled patterned plate on the top. This plate does not sit precisely level and there appears some ceramic cement in the join between the 2 parts so I think the plate has been re-attached or maybe a replacement if the original was damaged. Both pieces have impressed Wedgwood marks. The stand also has various impressed letters including a three letter series that gives a date of 1878 and painted model number M2650.
It measures 20cm (8") high and 22.5cm (8 7/8") wide across the plate. The figure base is 14cm (5 1/2") by 10cm (4").
Condition is very good; there is some appropriate surface wear to the plate; minimal to the rest and no chips, cracks or restoration bar the unoriginal attachment of the plate to stand. This join has been done well and very neatly.
